BROWNBACK BOWS OUT

Sam Brownback pulled out of the US Presidential race last week, leaving a healthy crop of nine Republican candidates still out there. While Brownback’s conservative credentials, tough pro-life stance, commitment to tax reform, and push for the US to help end the genocide in Darfur made him a favorite at bloodredstate.com, we can’t say we’re not surprised. Brownback’s appeal never reached far beyond his native Kansas. In the August 11, 2007 Ames Iowa straw poll he only received 15.3% of the vote. This dramatically wounded his campaign and his fundraising efforts suffered considerably. Citing financial complications, he officially dropped out of the race on Thursday, October 18. We here at bloodredstate.com wish him well in his Senate career and in his future endeavors.
