'LAMBS' FAILS TO DRAW AUDIENCE

The Robert Redford/Meryl Streep/Tom Cruise film “Lions for Lambs” failed to break into the top three motion pictures opening last weekend. The film, a critical look at the war of terror, pulled in a paltry $6,702,434 over the weekend according to boxofficemojo.com. IMDB.com estimated that the film cost $35 million to make. The film was directed by the perennial environmental hypocrite Redford and was produced by Cruise’s United Artists studio- the first film released by the new production company.

The film follows the Machiavellian scheme of a shady Republican senator (Cruise) as he tries to convince a reporter (Streep) to become a propagandist for a new war strategy in Afghanistan. Meanwhile a college professor (Redford) tries to convince a lazy student to apply himself after two previous students enlist in the army, only to be killed in dramatic, statement-making style.

Another Streep film, Rendition, which was released last month and also critical of the administration’s War on Terror, managed to pull in only $9,664,316.

Once again we see the disconnect between Hollywood and the rest of America. Apparently the powers that be in Hillarywood want to paint the War on Terror as an unnecessary, evil action in an attempt by Right Wing America to rule the world. In their eyes the Islamic terrorists are no worse than the misunderstood Communists of the Soviet Union. The poor showing of these movies illustrates America’s rejection of films critical of the War on Terror.
