PRIMARY WINS- McCAIN IN S. CAROLINA, ROMNEY IN NEVADA

Republican primary races heated up once again on Saturday as John McCain took South Carolina and Mitt Romney took Nevada. The two victories again illustrate the fact that there still no clear front-runner for the GOP nomination.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney took 51% of the vote and 17 delegates in the Silver State while receiving only 15% of the vote and no delegates in South Carolina. Arizona Senator John McCain took 13% and 4 delegates in Nevada, but ran away with 33% and 19 delegates in South Carolina. Mike Huckabee took 8% and 3 delegates from Nevada, but came in a strong second in South Carolina with 30% and 5 delegates. Ron Paul took second place in Nevada with 14% and 4 delegates, but only took 4% and no delegates in the Palmetto State.

Through a quirk in the Democratic Party process, Hillary took 51% of the vote but only 12 delegates in Nevada while her rival Barack Obama took only 45% of the vote but ran away with 13 delegates. Well, with their inability to understand the economy it’s no wonder that Democrats can’t count. The Democrats have yet to have their South Carolina primary.

This latest round of primaries confirms Romney’s first place so far among delegate votes. Romney currently holds 72 delegates, McCain 38, Huckabee 29, Fred Thompson 8, Ron Paul 6, and Rudy Giuliani a disappointing 2.

Leading polls place John McCain in the lead in Florida with 23%. Following closely is Giuliani with 20% and Romney with 18%.

We’ve said it before but let us repeat it once more- IT IS STILL ANYBODY’S GAME!
