WHY WE LOVE MITT ROMNEY

While we here at Bloodredstate.com would be happy with any of the Republican contenders for the White House, there does tend to be a certain bias here for the man we think is ultimately the most electable- Willard Mitt Romney.

Romney has a varied and impressive education. He attended Stanford University, Brigham Young University, and Harvard Law School and Business School. He was named a Baker Scholar at Harvard, an honor reserved for the top 5% of graduates.

In business he worked for The Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company, Inc., two powerful Boston area management consulting firms. In 1984 he formed his own investment firm, Bain Capital. Among the companies the firm invested in or bought out are Staples, Brookstone, Domino’s Pizza, and The Sports Authority. In 1990 he returned to a financially troubled Bain & Company. Named CEO, Romney took only one year to turn the company’s financial woes around. The firm became profitable without resorting to layoffs or major loss of employee benefits.

Living in Salt Lake at the time of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, I saw first hand how Romney turned a demoralized, bankrupt organization into a machine that the community and nation could be proud of. Named the CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee in February, 1999, Romney injected the enterprise with a new optimism while at the same time carefully rebuilt its finances. Reducing budgets and increasing fundraising activities, Romney also personally donated $1 million to SLOC, and gave his SLOC salary to charity.

When Romney became governor of Massachusetts in January, 2003, the state had a deficit of over $1 billion. By the end of this term the state had a $700 million surplus. Using his instinct for business, Romney correctly cut taxes and cut government spending. He also gave tax incentives for citizens with health insurance, insuring that health care would not be a drain on the state’s coffers. All this despite the fact that his sensible vetoing of the state legislature’s tax and spend policies were all too often overturned.

While in the past Romney has made pro-choice comments, he has stated firmly that he is now pro-life and that Roe vs. Wade needs to be overturned. He has also stated that a constitutional amendment protecting unborn children is needed. Romney worked for a state constitutional amendment protecting the institution of marriage. He supported both the 2003 invasion of Iraq and President Bush’s troop surge. Romney supports tax relief for middle class Americans and has pledged to oppose any income tax increase. He supports increased legal immigration, the death penalty, and is a firm supporter of gun rights.

But perhaps one of the best reasons to support Mitt Romney for President comes not from a friend, but from an enemy. Perennial horse’s ass Barney Frank, Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts, said of Romney, “He is the most intellectually dishonest human being in the history of politics.” If as big an idiot as Barney Frank opposes him, then Romney must be doing something right.

Here’s hoping Romney gets the Republican nomination. Against Romney’s intelligence, proven leadership, charisma, and politics, Hillary, Obama, and the entire host of Democratic morons don’t stand a chance!
